Vintage Doors at Summerhill Pyramid Winery, Kelowna, B.C.
I absolutely love brides that offer me creative freedom and who trust me to capture their style and vision. My client Colleen was an example of that perfect bride who was amazing to work with while she planned from afar. Throughout the months leading up to her wedding we exchanged phone calls and many emails but never actually got to meet in person. Colleen was thorough in describing how she wanted the feel of her wedding and she expressed to me what vintage items would have personal and cultural significance to her and her fiancé . I loved that through our conversations Colleen would constantly reiterate that she wanted to ensure her intimate number of guests were comfortable, that their son was always intricately involved in the day’s festivities and that the decor spoke about her history, her family upbringing and her country of origin.
I was fortunate enough to actually meet Colleen and Kris after their ceremony (sadly I never actually meet many of my clients in person as they are often destination bride & grooms). It was so great to hear the feedback from Colleen in person and to get a huge hug from her. It was the kind of hug where they intentionally hold you long enough so you know it’s sincere and meaningful (this brought me to tears). I honestly feel like I create a bond of friendship with clients as we work together towards a single goal in anticipation and excitement of their wedding day. My goal with every wedding is to make the decor personalized with unique touches that speak of the vision and life of the bride and grooms; inevitably I’m going to feel connected to my clients at the end of the process. What a huge blessing it is to meet my clients and to see their reactions on their wedding day. Thanks Colleen & Kris for being wonderful!
Here’s some photos from her beautiful wedding at Summerhill Winery in Kelowna, B.C. The weather was perfect and the sun was beaming warm golden rays as it reflected off of Lake Okanagan onto the vineyards of Summerhill winery. At the suggestion of the Summerhill banquet managers, Colleen chose to have her ceremony near the heritage house on the property of the winery. It was under a huge willow tree and it couldn’t have been more picturesque for the occasion.
I brought in antique wooden chairs for each of the guests and had two vintage ‘patina perfect’ doors created for the entrance of the ceremony. I utilized vintage trunks, an antique steam trunk, old timey mason jars with paper straws and soda stands to add personality and to create a comfort home feel to the outdoor venue. For the indoor reception I used my vintage china, pink depression glassware, skeleton keys, blush coloured table runners and handmade table napkins. I incorporated old black and white postcards from Colleen’s hometown and heirlooms she was handed down from her family. Views from Summerhill were outstanding with the organic vineyard and gardens full of that which the winery boasts of in their menu and in their world-renowned wines.
The gorgeous rustic floral arrangements and bouquets were designed and provided by Arlene at Edgy Petals in Summerland & the beautiful cake and cakepops were made by the talented Anna from ‘Sweet on You‘ here in Kelowna. Thanks to the amazing staff at Summerhill for your consistently incredible service, provision and quality.
Here was the testimonial by Colleen & Kris:
Finding a Vintage Rental Company to do our wedding decor couldn’t have been
more tailor made for us. Kris and I both value our families so much. It
was so important that our special day involved everyone past and present
who have and had such a positive loving impact on us.
Yuriko’s talent and her entire creative process captured everything we wanted. When I pulled up to the ceremony I was stunned at how perfectly she had gotten our us. Each location at Summerhill was better than the next. ”Thank you” so much for everything Yuriko we loved our day and what made it extra special was being able to congratulate you on all of your hard work personally. Job well done! Warm Wishes,
Kris and Colleen, Calgary, A.B.
